Have you ever made something that you thought was really great? But then you post it on Instagram and get discouraged because nobody else seems to like it?
Or even worse… Nobody even notices it!
It’s like, why the heck would you pour your heart out into you art when nobody even seems to care?!
After a few times of this happening you may even begin to question your abilities as an artist. What if no one likes what you make? What if people call you a fraud? What if you are just wasting your time? Maybe you aren’t cut out to be an artist after all…
First of all, you’re definitely cut out to be an artist. And second, these are common fears that artists have in their heads, and they can paralyze you if you aren’t careful.
The 10 Day Overcome-Your-Fear Challenge
If you are an artist and you are currently struggling with fears like these, then I want to issue to you a challenge.
Here is my challenge to you:
For the next 10 days, I want you to post something on Instagram every single day. STARTING TODAY.
And so I can hold you accountable, I want you to tag me in your Instagram post (@BrandonMikelPaul) and use #10DayFearChallenge in your caption.
It doesn’t matter if it is amazing, if it’s terrible, if it’s your best work or your worst…
What matters is that you commit to hitting that “Share” button every single day.
The only way you will overcome your fear of sharing is by posting your work and watching what happens.
What you’ll find is that many of the fears you have of sharing your work aren’t grounded in reality.
As an artist, I totally understand the fear that comes along with making and sharing art.
You ask questions like:
- What if it isn’t as good as my last post?
- Why would people like me when there are so many artists out there that are better than me?
- What if I get made fun of and get embarrassed?
These are some of the most common questions running through my head on a daily basis when it comes to making and sharing art.
To be completely honest, I’m struggling with these same fears right now, except instead of being scared to share my art I am scared to share my blog posts. I’m not 100% confident in my ability as a writer, so posting a blog post every day is my way of getting over my fear.
So if you are struggling with a fear of posting your work, the best way to overcome that fear is by making yourself post something every single day no matter how good or bad it is.
Don’t let your fear get in the way of sharing your art with others and inspiring people.
I promise that you are better than you give yourself credit for.
So if you’re an artist struggling with fear (you know who you are 😉) then go right now and figure out what you are going to post to Instagram.
Here, I even wrote down the steps to help keep you focused:
- Take a photo of your art.
- Write a caption describing your art.
- Add #10DayFearChallenge to your caption.
- Tag me in your post (@BrandonMikelPaul)
- Take a deep breath.
- Hit “Share”
DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!
Go right now and post something to instagram. I’ll be replying to everyone who tags me so you better do it!
Now get out there and overcome your fear!
